What Is Matter?

Even in a ninth grade honors science class, I have found not that many people know what matter is. Matter is anything that has mass AND volume. Volume is the property of taking up space. Mass is harder to understand, Physicists will define it as anything that "affects the rate at which an object changes its motion when subjected to a force." However, it can also be defined as " The property of an object that determines how much gravitational attraction it exerts on other objects." When most people think of matter, they think of atoms. But atoms are for another day. So in short, matter is anything that has mass AND volume.

Dino To Bird

"We can stop looking for the missing link in the dinosaur-bird transition now because it was seamless. Birds are a continuum of millions of years of evolution, and there was no great jump between non-birds to birds." READ MORE

That Old Book Smell...

"Old books have a distinctive smell that can make any book lover’s heart melt. Matija Strlic of University College London described it to The Telegraph as “a combination of grassy notes with a tang of acids and a hint of vanilla over an underlying mustiness, this unmistakable smell is as much a part of the book as its contents.”"
