Life On Mars?

Last week, NASA announced that the Mars rover Opportunity had stumbled upon a mysterious rock that seemed to appear out of nowhere. While the rock did have quite a unique composition, it was likely knocked into place by the rover as it maneuvered around the area. There is still much to be understood about the rock, but one man is filing a lawsuit against the space administration for failing to identify the fact that it was an extraterrestrial life form... according to him.

Dog On Fish

This dog is standing on thousands of frozen fish!

It is assumed that the fish were frightened into shallow waters by whales and the water froze solid before the fish could escape. The local temperature was about -8 C (17 F). Though other fish have been chased into the bay by predators before, this is the first known occurrence of getting trapped in the ice.

As the ice thaws, the fish will probably be scavenged by birds.

Putting Chips On Bees

Thousands of bees are being outfitted with computer chips in order to collect information about changes in climate, pollution, even new pests in the area. This will give the researchers a better understanding of the challenges bees are facing daily and what can be done to aid in their conservation.

How Far Can You See

The curvature of the Earth starts to obscure images about 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) away, but our eyes are capable of seeing much more. On a dark night, the unaided human eye is even able of seeing the Andromeda galaxy 2.6 million light years away.
