The bushveld rain frogs spend a lot of time digging underground and lives in the steppes and savannas of south east africa in countries such as Angola, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, and Mozambique.
It’s body is 3 to 6 centimeters and is covered in light brown, yellow, and orange spots withdarker edges.It has large eyes with a dark iris. The head is large with a flat face. The robust legs are well adapted for digging. The female is larger than the male.
When in danger the rain frog stays still and its head will swell. Rarely coming out of the ground except for eating or to mate after the rain, lasting 4-6 weeks between November and January.
